I am the CTO for CalFinder a contractor referral service like no other, and I'm very proud of that. I've been working in the construction area for only a short time and am finding that the people, whehter it be a homeowner, or contractor, are refreshingly genuine. Other than work, getting outside and fly fishing is the only way to go.

A guide to choosing colors for interiors that reflect the changing seasons

Season by Season Color Coordination

Fall is rapidly approaching; you can sense the coming change everywhere you look. The leaves are beginning to change, the air is a bit crisper, and the days are shorter. We welcome the change after a long, hot summer. Whereas three months ago we couldn't stand another rainy day, we now look forward to the cleansing touch of the fall rains. There is a reason for each season; nature needs the change just as much as we do. Each of us treasures something different about the seasons, whether it's the smell in the air, or the changing colors. Whatever you love, why not capture its essence and bring it indoors for maximum enjoyment?

Color Coordination

Choose your paint. Unless you have an unlimited budget and just love to re-paint, you probably don't want to change your color palette with the onset of each new season. A more realistic goal is to repaint with changing trends, every few years. The current favorites for example are quite neutral and easy to incorporate into the changing seasons. Golds, creams, chocolates, deep reds, blues, and silvers are all popular right now.

Work the seasonal changes into your fabrics. These are quite easy to change around throughout the year. Heavier draperies are more conducive to dark winter months, whereas lighter sheers work well in spring and summer. Choose colors and prints that coincide with the season; golds and browns for fall, festive colors for the holidays, warm rich tones for winter, pastels for spring, and vibrant hues for summer. Mix it up with accent pillows, table cloths, rugs, and towels.

Use accessories to complete the look. This can become a fun hobby throughout your year; pick up various pieces that fit each season and gradually work them into your décor. These items can be anything from candlesticks to choice artwork.

Just as nature tidies-up after each season, neatly pack your seasonal décor away into air-tight plastic containers. Store them in an easy to access location to quickly unpack next year. Although this may seam like a time-consuming practice, it is actually fairly common throughout our society.

Think about your favorite stores and hotels; all of them change their décor with the changing seasons. What better way to bring renewed interest to your home? Just as the smell of hot apple cider and pumpkin pie make you thing of fall, complete the seasonal ambiance within your home this year with the entire decor. You will soon become known for your lovely and pleasant interior design style.
